What is counseling and what can I expect?

Counseling, also known as psychotherapy, as a systemic process guided by a mental health professional that is used to help others live a healthier and happier life. The process includes evidenced based therapies that address thinking errors and promote the use of healthier habits and skills in a supportive and collaborative way.

You can expect to have conversations with your therapist to that cause you to express your thoughts and feelings, to better understand what is driving your behaviors. At The Healing Place, we utilize real-life assignments to practice outside of the session to ensure effectiveness and mastery.

Am I a good fit for counseling here?

We treat adults that are dealing with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress and bipolar disorder.

We also address quality of life issues including communication issues, career dissatisfaction, parenting challenges, relationship stress and life-transitions which could be divorce, grief, aging-related issues.

Counseling is a commitment that should be taken seriously by you the client and your therapist. We want to make the best use of your time and actively participate in sessions in order to see improvements.

Do you offer online counseling?

Yes. We offer online counseling because you may feel more comfortable talking about issues in the privacy of your own home. Also, you may be on the go and still want counseling with your therapist, regardless of your location.

Online therapy saves you commute time as well as time spent sitting in a waiting room, waiting to be seen. You can access your therapist with any smart device through our HIPAA secure platform. The Healing Place will begin offering face to face sessions in Summer of 2020 at our Douglasville, GA location.

What model of treatment will be used?

Why should I choose The Healing Place?

We have testimonials from clients that have been treated by Nakeya. See for yourself!

I’ve been at this for about a month now and she is very quick to respond and has great insight and has been very helpful. I think she is doing a great job and is kind and listens. She seems to get what my problems are and offers ways to learn and grow to be a better person.

She is personable, humorous, honest, and effective. She is encouraging and complimentary. She allows you to rely on your knowledge, insight, and intuition instead of feeding you all the answers. I love her.

My first time speaking with any counselor. It was a freeing experience with a compassionate and competent therapist.

For the first time in my life, I feel like I can see more clearly through my entire life. Nakeya has just been such a good listener and her feedback has been so helpful to me. Would recommend her to ANYONE!

I’m very new to counseling and in a short space of time, I feel very confident in a positive outcome from our sessions. I’m happy with my decision to begin counseling and feel very blessed to have been matched so perfectly with Nakeya.

What is the cost of counseling?

Our initial assessment can last up to an hour and 10 minutes and cost $150 dollars. Ongoing sessions cost $110 per 50-minute session.
